Spiti Valley Travel Log – A Week in the Middle Land

Day 1: Shimla to Kalpa

The journey began with winding roads and pine-scented air. Kalpa greeted me with snow-dusted peaks and apple orchards—like nature was easing me into Spiti's dramatic terrain.

Day 2: Kalpa to Nako
The landscapes started to shift—greener valleys gave way to barren beauty. Nako Lake shimmered under the sun, and the tiny village felt like it was floating on the edge of another world.

Day 3: Nako to Tabo via Gue
Stopped at Gue to see the 500-year-old mummy—it was surreal. Tabo Monastery, with its earthen walls and centuries-old paintings, whispered stories of peace and time.

Day 4: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar
Climbed to Dhankar Monastery perched precariously on a cliff—felt like standing at the edge of the sky. Reached Kaza by dusk, the heart of Spiti, quiet yet alive in its own rhythm.

Day 5: Kaza Local – Langza, Hikkim, Komic
Visited some of the world’s highest villages. Mailed a postcard from Hikkim, stood beneath Buddha in Langza, and had butter tea in Komic. The silence up there speaks louder than any city buzz.

Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal via Losar & Kunzum La
Crossed Kunzum Pass—where prayer flags flutter like the heartbeat of the mountains. Reached Chandratal just in time for a pastel sunset. The lake mirrored the sky—pure magic.

Day 7: Back to Manali
Rough roads, aching limbs, but a full heart. Spiti changed something in me. It’s not just a trip; it’s a quiet transformation. One I’ll keep coming back to.
